Christmas Cookies 2009
Since I was a toddler, one Saturday towards the end of December, my mother would bake all day, making cookies to give away to family and friends. She started out with about four cookie recipes. Over the years we tried a few new ones – some stuck, some were abandoned (though all were amended… We change recipes. It’s what we do).
We are now up to ten varieties. Yes, that was not a typo, ten varieties of cookies. I don’t think the batch can grow any larger, but we have said that before. I do most of the baking now, so unless ... MORE

Freebie of the week: Trick of the light 001 Textures: Halloween
This week’s Friday Freebie is brought to you by Halloween. I realize that sounds a bit odd, but I took these on Halloween night. I used to experiment with light and take loads of photos with light trails – create some nice raw textures for my artwork. I hope you enjoy.

Custom Munny: Tribute to Tilt: Part 3
I finally completed my first custom Munny. (Tribute to Tilt) Hooray! OK, so there are a bunch of problems, it’s not perfect, but overall it came out pretty nice. I’ve got to give myself a little credit. I’m new at toy customization, and I’ve never used an airbrush before today. Sure, I made a lot of mistakes, but I’m looking to find out the error of my ways. Few things I’ve learned already…
Give light coats (thin mist) and let each coat them dry thoroughly between applications.
Do not overcoat.

Custom Munny: Tribute to Tilt: Part 2
After several coats of primer, I think this guy is ready for airbrushing. I’ll probably get to that sometime this weekend. He is either gonna be Pearlized Magenta or Fluorescent Raspberry. I’m thinkin’ the former.
Check out Part One.

Logo Of the Week: Wild Type Gear
Logo feature for this week comes from one of my favorite type designers, Jos Buivenga. It reminds me a bit of the Underware font Bello Script, which I also love. Jos created the logo for his little T-shirt project, Wild Type Gear. Great job. This is definitely saved to my logo reference library.

Custom Munny: Tribute To Tilt
When I saw Tilt’s custom Munny from the recent Munnyworld toy exhibit in NYC, I fell in love with it. I decided to create a similar toy and test out my new airbrush. I’ve selected only the letters “H-O-N-E-Y.” I want to try to paint it tomorrow night. Hopefully I can stick to that schedule. Stay Tuned.

Canon Lens and Extension Tube = Magic
Today I got a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II and EF 12 II Extension tube for my Canon Rebel XTi. I feel like I got a new camera. I only took a few test shots and I was blown away. Together they produce images with shallow Depths of Field, and a little bit of magnification. It’s like magic. I love it. Can’t wait to start taking more photos.
