Custom Munny: R50 Munny Part 2

December 4th, 2009

munny2_1

I made some progress with my first custom Munny figure. I should have washed it first in soapy water (to get that factory coating off). It would have made drawing on it a whole lot easier. It’s alright though, I’ve erased enough to remove 90% of the coating. Though, it is definitely tougher to draw on these guys than I thought. And drawing a symmetrical design is killing me. It always looks off and I’ve got to start over. I have so much eraser lint on my desk it’s obscene. Hey, at least it’s only pencil. Let’s hope I don’t make any mistakes when I get the Sharpie Paint Markers on them. I ‘m having a hard time finding the Fine/Super Fine tipped versions though. I contacted Sharpie and it turns out they are discontinuing them? Gee, thanks a lot. Just when I need them. Still a few places I think I can grab some. Until next time…

First two pictures are from last night. Second two are from this evening.

Have a look at uni POSCA markers, they’re brilliant! http://www.durablesupply.com/popamapcexfi.html I found it easier to just draw on a print out version of the munny and then just do it up directly with markers and forget the pencil on the munny because of its curved structure it’s difficult to control the lead but the markers grip. :)

Yea pencil is rough, but I don’t have the confidence to go without a safety net. HA! I’ll definitely grab some of those marker though. Thanks for the tip!

Another tip: Grab a white marker for any mistakes ;)

I’ve used DecoColor paint markers before. I wouldn’t recommend them the paint never dried! I should have tested it with a base coat or primer, it didn’t stick to the vinyl well at all.
