TED Talks: Minority Report Comes to Life, The Future of UI
We all remember that amazing interface from Minority Report. (Wow, has it been 8 years already?) Since then, we may have seen experiments and tests done that could simulate or partially recreate elements from that brilliant system. And while they were really interesting and hopeful, they were nothing anyone could actually imagine using on a daily basis. Now, John Underkoffler presents us with the beginnings of an actually useable, viable prototype for such an interface. OK, so the next new iMac won’t include this technology, but it will ... MORE

Milk and Polys.
Leche is fixed! I got some help and the smudges are gone. He looks great!
I’m mostly finished with this guy. There are some smudging problems still. Maybe with the UV map? I don’t know. I’ll get help from an expert. HA.

Oh, I forgot the blobman.
I was learning a technique and playing with a script. I ended up making this silly guy.

Machine Screw
Apparently the tutorial I chose to do was harder than I thought… and the guy demonstrating was going really fast, using shortcuts/key commands. He also used some (downloaded) scripts, which I did not have. Some of my geometry wasn’t matching up, so i had to just go with it. The material is just a preset so I could preview this thing. I’m not going near materials yet. That’s crazy stuff.
Bah. It is what it is. At least it looks like a screw and not a shrew.

Kirby-ish Monsty
I took a break from cleaning for about 10 minutes earlier today and made this little guy. I’m sure I made him all wrong. That’s why I have to watch more tutorials. HA! He’s cute though.

I’m going to learn how to model in 3D
Or at least that’s the plan. I never thought I could do it, but I think I’m ready. I don’t need to be the next best Pixar animator, just do some nice simple modeling that will help me when I design.
I have some buddies in CA who are also designers. They’ve been trying to get me to use Cinema 4D. So I tried it out and it seemed pretty cool. I made this that first day.
Then I got to talking with our (amazing) 3D artist Matt (at Rokkan). He was telling me to use another program for modeling, modo. I downloaded a demo and h... MORE
